For those who aren’t already aware, you can continue to get Windows 10 security updates after EOS, as well as updates for legacy windows systems, with 0patch. That’s what I plan on doing. https://0patch.com/

I thought they specifically planned to end the security updates to force people to use win11

They are not ending support for some evil plot to force people to use win11. They just don’t want to support win10 forever. The exact same thing has happened to every other windows version and most Linux distros and lots of other stuff like servers and networking hardware.

it would feel less evil if win11 wasnt so full of awful and downgraded features.

That’s just incompetence. It’s not like they are laughing with the devil because people can’t place the taskbar at the top anymore.

Microsoft is going to stop providing updates, but 0patch is specifically providing security patches after EOS so that people don’t have to upgrade to Windows 11.

Hey don’t bash Excel, it can run Linux too, although heavily stripped Risc-V version.

I find it amussing that tech bros think the average home user will care… They’ll keep using Win 10 like nothing has changed. I knew people still happily using XP in 2014…

After years of suffering under Microsoft’s bugs, you’re ready to have your own bugs no one can help you with.

I’ve switched to Debian GNU/Linux, because I figured out it’s easier to manage than modern Windows anyways.

I’ve ended up taking notes on personal MediaWiki instance on various Unix/GNU commands, and various other stuff.

Also ended up finding 7 bugs (for now) mostly in APT/Aptitude and their documentation (didn’t report them yet).

Don’t mind me, I am just a self-diagnosed autist (lmao).

why spend time googling dozens of half-related forum issues when chatgpt can average all those half-related issues in one plausible-looking reply. just think of the time saved.

“Read The Fucking Manual” (sometimes seen as “Read the Fscking Manual”) I remember saying it back in the day when I was annoyed that the answer could be found in the documentation while someone is asking others what something means, how it works, or having a common problem.

I now see it as quite pretentious of a reply and I now don’t reply if I can’t also be helpful.

This isn’t the original image and that sword doesn’t really look like it goes with that scabbard. Did someone recreate/enhance the image with AI?

    The original:

Yup. It was designed as a troll to get sword geeks to comment about the inconsistency and then call them out on it.

I see what you did there. Would that I were a sword nerd. I was just googling the original because I couldn’t remember how it went and noticed it had an entirely different dude in it.
