I can’t think of a single VR game that has come out that felt like a fully fleshed out game. The games I’ve played the most have all been ports (e.g. Borderlands 2, Skyrim, Fallout 4, The Forest) because native VR games are typically only 3-6 hours long.
Meta really make it annoying to use too. My next headset will definitely not be a Meta.

Yeah, I’ve considered a name change myself. Decided not to bother as it would mean every time I need to prove my identity to a government organisation I’d need to provide additional change of name documentation.

Probably some bureaucrat decades ago making an incorrect assumption that passed down through generations. Happened to my family. No Irish roots whatsoever, yet somehow we ended up with the annoying form-breaking apostrophe in our ‘legal’ name just because it begins with the letter ‘o’.

Thanks for responding, but no, I have 3 devices plugged in at the moment and the icons don’t change regardless of which one I have selected. This is the only one with an ‘x’ icon. It doesn’t appear to prevent me from using it, but I’m unsure if it’s indicative of an issue with the device itself. Maybe it just means it isn’t a recognised device. Kind of wish Nemo had tooltips or something.

In honesty (my last comment was clearly not legit), you likely do pronounce the ‘L’; most accents will include this in my experience.
Does the tip of your tongue touch the roof of your mouth just on or behind the ridge before your front teeth? If you release your tongue before pronouncing the ‘D’ is there a release of air? If you do position your tongue here and there is no release of air before pronouncing the ‘D’ (which does release air), then you are pronouncing the ‘L’.

I have acquaintances who seem to have a paranoid belief that every other person in the world is a paedophile just waiting for an opportunity to kidnap their child. Growing up in the 90s, I had a great deal of freedom in comparison to this thought process. I played cricket on the streets, I walked around the neighbourhood without concern, I walked my dog in the evenings. My parents didn’t seem to think I would be unsafe without them around to coddle me.
I guess no matter the generation there are parents who go too far in one extreme or another… Though tbh, being concerned about witchcraft seems more medieval than boomer. Sorry for your loss, but I’m glad you feel more free now. I imagine it must be a complex mix of emotions.
I’ve been using Linux on and off for years and I’ve never really understood what these different directories are for. If I don’t know where something is I just search for it, though more often than not whatever I’m looking for is somewhere in the home directory. I’m also not sure of the accuracy of this though. I have a VM in /run, and an SSD and thumb drive in /media. I would’ve expected these to be in /mnt.
Not a good comparison. To produce milk regularly cows must give birth. These calves are often sold to be slaughtered as veal. Likewise situation for eggs. To produce hens farmers typically wait until the chicks hatch and throw the unwanted male chicks in a grinder.
This somehow makes me feel both old and young at the same time.
The Harry Potter series was such a prominent part of my childhood. I remember my teacher reading the books to the class as they came out. I loved every moment and eagerly looked forward to each book release. Could be worse. I was the only member of my entire team who didn’t get stuck in a boot loop, meaning I had to do their work as well as my own… Can’t even blame being on Linux as my work computer is Windows 11, I got ‘lucky’; I just got a couple of BSODs and the system restarted just fine.
Speaking of accuracy, your comment seems to identify the wrong issue. Navigating the install menus in a non-Arch linux distro is pretty much analogous to Windows. The biggest difference is that Linux distros don’t have 3-4 pages where they sneakily try to include privacy-breaching clauses during the installation.
The real issue is starting the installation in the first place. Windows is easy, because hardware manufacturer’s have en masse bent over to willingly present themselves to Microsoft, Linux doesn’t have this advantage and users must figure out how to get around the 7,000 different Secure Boot UEFI configurations before they can even start the installation process.
