HappinessPill@lemmy.mlto Privacy@lemmy.ml•A Privacyless Society vs. A Private SocietyEnglish0·2 days agoWOW, that’s very good, some serious world building, I also think you should write some fiction.
About the logic of it, I can see this happening, but in my opinion not to make everything public is a government advantage, it makes blackmail by intelligence agencies more easily, and also the advantage of having the data becomes exclusive of companies and governments centralized in data centers.
The first thing that would happen if everything was transparent, would be, in my opinion, that people would form groups probably a caste system then giving an hierarchy to the groups, society would become then way more deterministic.
I hope you keep writing.
This is the classical argument that capitalism is the best motivator of development since it is considered natural(selected as dominant till now) and by extension better fit for human nature.
Yet it is destroying itself, meaning he believes human nature will destroy itself, he then go on to say China is Capitalist, more specifically the government, that would assume the role of exploiter, then internally capitalism seem somewhat to be the exploiting structure reinforcing the idea of hierarchy and exploitation that generates more economic value and justify the inequality.
Probably because if it’s working it must mean it is capitalist in someway, they don’t conflate Cuba or another places with Capitalism because they don’t see the countries as economic powers.
The main differences would be that China invest in their workers, and Capitalistic countries don’t, the solution would be invest in the workers, but then he fails to notice that the failure of investing in workers isn’t a miscommunication or mismanagement, but a feature of capitalism itself that deny any handouts or any advantage to the masses to keep it up with the elite.
The statement of the main comment seems to be that capitalism is equal to exploitation and hierarchy, communism(or another placeholder) then is equal to end of suffering, exploitation and hierarchy, that’s why he/she sees capitalism as inevitable and communism and other ideologies seems utopic in comparison.
To avoid legal repercussions, probably.
HappinessPill@lemmy.mlto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•how do I avoid becoming conformist, lazy and completely incapable of learning something new?English9·3 days agoYou are a person who values efficiency, there are companies that will take advantage of that and make you burnout then fire you if you don’t have protections or do not live in a country that have them.
Some of those people that you noticed also someday wanted to make everything better and efficient, but they can’t, because most companies follow a hierarchy that do not accept changes coming from bellow to the top.
You already noticed that you can become like this, the difference will be your values, ethics and which companies will you work for, some companies can and will make you fall into hierarchy and conformism, unfortunately.
If you are young and have that option maybe search for more flexible jobs where they will accept ideas and try things like startup’s but they are often chaotic and unstable also.
I hope some of it help you, be careful to not burnout think about the long-term also.
Some projects try to use a funding bar, that is shown to the user, when the funding is in risk the users know and donate more. The nag screen is effective, but if you are a donor already it can become somewhat annoying.
Thanks, that’s very useful, I noticed that the the donations are a in a low amount compared to the rest of the income, but it is more stable, if possible could you share your experience with the ko-fi platform and donations? Do you think it is an visibility problem, since it’s hard to break from dev sphere to mainstream?

HappinessPill@lemmy.mlto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•what the hell do i do about my sister’s mental health?English3·4 days agoIt is the Tendency to speak rapidly and frenziedly, as if motivated by an urgency not apparent to the listener if she is bipolar antidepressants could be too stimulating cause a person to feel the need to talk a lot and feel very uncomfortable when people are silent or between topics.
Cloud services or features monetization are interesting, I’ve seen some companies do a community or a local version and the business version with more features.
HappinessPill@lemmy.mlto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Can my sisters friend truly be excused for mental health?English7·4 days agoYou are free to dislike people and to choose who will be your friends, your sister also have this freedom, maybe you could offer help if things get too rough with Lena, and give advice if needed, helping people is not easy specially if Lena doesn’t accept it or want it.
HappinessPill@lemmy.mlto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•what the hell do i do about my sister’s mental health?English3·4 days agoIf she is bipolar antidepressants could cause her to have pressured speech, if I was you I would observe her behavior and see if she are having difficulties or another symptoms and talk with her doctor directly. Also you could give her a journal to be an alternative form of expression if you are not available to listen.
HappinessPill@lemmy.mlto Technology@lemmy.world•ChatGPT spends 'tens of millions of dollars' on people saying 'please' and 'thank you', but Sam Altman says it's worth itEnglish0·5 days agoI agree, I’ve noticed that there is a push to make people think of AI as human to increase the acceptance, some media(movies, series…others) are stopping to depict it as a danger and more like a guardian or even a sentient companion like it could cross the programming and become human, it’s complex how vulnerable we are to projecting ourselves over other beings or things and develop parasocial or codependent relationships.

Why do you consider AppImages as last resort?
I can understand that in a distro the main repo need to be prioritized to avoid bloat of repetitive dependencies that could happen with a lot of AppImages.
I can’t understand why so many people are opposed to it as an supportive role from a practical and complementary perspective.
I get it, but I want you to recognize that thinking there isn’t a way to improve things can be seen as propaganda. I understand that the situation can feel bleak and hopeless, but what I try to do is look for small changes. While we cannot make all necessary changes quickly, we can make a small difference, even if it’s just a little. If things are too difficult, there’s no shame in surviving as long as possible. Sometimes, all we can do is buy ourselves some extra time.
