I just sold my Pixel Watch and bought a Withings Scanwatch.

Daily charging is annoying. I stopped using it to pay because then I’d have to set up a PIN, and then two in the PIN every time I want to use it. I’m not without my phone and it’s more convenient to pay with.

I did like the health monitoring features, but the daily charging made it intrusive and another thing I had to actively monitor.

Scanwatch gives me 30 days of battery, all the health tracking, and some basic notifications, which is fine but I’d get it even without that.

I’m not always working in the office, and they’ve asked us to connect to VPN only if we need access to the internal network. Email and Teams work without VPN, but now you want me to log in for web access? A browser blocker is better imo.

Thanks for the info, I’ll read through the docs and hopefully get this up and running again in the near future. Fortunately, nothing here is mission critical and I can still use the machine with VPN active. Getting resolv.conf back in working order appears to be the right solution.

Yes I believe that Mullvad routes you to their DNS server so that explains why it works when connected to VPN. If I attempt an nslookup when NOT connected to VPN it fails and the server it attempts to contact is 127.0.0.53. When I connect to VPN the nslookup succeeds, and it uses the same server address.

I then disconnect from VPN and ping the ip address that I just looked up (I chose etsy) and the ping goes through so this seems to be a DNS lookup issue. Is 127.0.0.53 the right server address? I would expect it to use my DHCP server address of 192.168.x.x format.

Sony has had the dedicated focus/snap button for years but zoom is handled by the volume buttons. I liked that setup, but went away from them earlier this year because their phone keeps overheating in camera mode. That was as of mark IV anyway. I hear the new ones are better but not sure how much.
