Not defending AI here, but this sounds like people who are sick with some kind of illness are going down a rabbit hole with AI, and are unable to differentiate between imaginary and reality.
We had a family friend who worked with jewelry his whole life. He got some kind of poisoning from something he worked with. Lead? Mercury? I cannot recall
Anyways he started believing he was some kind of messenger from God. Nobody figured out it was poisoning for years. He was such a nice guy. He just wanted to help people. Once they figured it out, he was treated and went back to his normal self.
Every time I read more about Facebooks BS, the crazier it sounds. But I remember having a very similar issue with it. It kept feeding me political content I would get upset with. It was great at that, and so I stopped using it all together.
It truly seems like it’s a perfect storm of manipulation.
I didn’t encounter Brendan till late game. If you’re curious, you could just look up where he’s located. I honestly thought you were referring to that quest, lol. It’s very relevant to this post
The company I slave for hasn’t incorporated AI too much yet. But the way it actually has used AI made me question if we could have just used a computer program instead. None of it has been used in a way that seems game changing
That being said, if he owned tiktok, he would have access to an algorithm to push an agenda. Whereas twitch doesn’t really have the same kind of thing.
He kinda does. Amazon owns twitch
This came at a great time. I was just thinking about setting this up the other day
The best part of artwork is when you can see an artists personality through their art. Because Ai art is just stolen from other people who have poured their energy into their craft, it completely ruins the point.
It feels cheap. But because of this garbage, it’s also made me appreciate real art so much more.
Mannnn what a pain.
The only thing I don’t like it stolen artwork/voices/identities being used.
I also don’t like how I have to now hyper analyze everything I see and hear as an additional step to confirm if I’m seeing something legitimate or if it’s someone trying to mislead people.
I think my favorite parts of these tools are translation and simple word editing. Being able to prompt it to assist with various logic problems can also be nice.
So I feel conflicted. I guess like with any tool, it can be used properly or improperly
I assume everything is bots, so I only check out streamers, youtubers, and artists on Twitter. It was bad before the Musk takeover but now it’s borderline unusable lol
A few coworkers were talking about some new LLM that can create realistic sounding podcasts. Aside from a few vocal blunders, it was getting difficult to tell if the voices were AI or not. It’s getting concerning at this point.
I know not to trust stuff. But there’s so many people who just trust things or get fooled (even if they do know better). After hearing that generated podcast, im sure I’ll be fooled soon enough. It’s already exhausting and the worst part hasn’t come yet lol
I’ve been playing Mario Galaxy 2 for the first time. It’s pretty good, but I’m wondering what the hype was about. Perhaps it’s a product of its time in a way, but overall, it’s still a lot of fun. I keep dying at stupid parts, which is really funny. You can tell the developers really pushed their skills to the limits as all of the levels seem like they’re really well done.
I’ve been streaming a playthrough of Ghost of Tsushima, and I recently got to the DLC. I think the game does so many things right, but I have a few minor gripes. Overall, I really like the atmosphere and the world design. The environments are gorgeous.
I can’t imagine doing this to yourself. But I can see what leads people to do this. I’ve been streaming for a year now, but I’ve drawn a line where it is only during my off hours, and I keep weekends for myself. I do it during my hobby time.
The issue with our society is that we’re constantly supposed to min max everything. If you aren’t all in, your chances of success are lower. We see this manifest in various ways. For example, companies try to skip out on safety if they’re allowed to. People will take on multiple jobs. Without restrictions, some of us will push ourselves to our limits because we see no way out of our situations.
On the flip side, you see people just giving up. Like with the laying flat movement. Why play the game if you’ll never win?
I don’t really have a point to my ramblings. It’s just something I’ve been thinking about for a while. I’m not really sure what the solution is as the system is bigger than us. I guess this disfunction is just a symptom of a greater issue.
