  • Just now seeing your comment. I was using Nobara my monitors just freeze as in become completely unresponsive and it was entirely random. And there was a keyboard combo that was designed to fix it and that didn’t work then the community’s answer was, “we don’t know.”

To me the Linux systems are great but the community acts as if people shouldnjust switch without a second thought then get rally together when someone says, “I am having issues and don’t understand.” The Linux community then almost always proceeds to say, “did you try Googling it?” What would the person even know to Google if they don’t even know entirely what they are facing and when Linux issues get involved you are deep diving into Terminal and bash commands and most people barely understand how a Driver in Windows works or how to uninstall it. Then the response from the sake community is, “well clearly your the issue.” Its just odd to sell something the community won’t really assist with but then get offended when someone doesn’t want to switch.

  • Seeing a lot of comments on here and it just reminds me of what I have been telling my friends since day one.

    1. PalWorld is a threat to Pokemon. It has potential to crown Pokemon in a different way and really compete. Nintendo will 100% find a way. I told them and told them. I said the same thing on Reddit. Sure enough, downvoted.

    2. I love Pokemon, I love Zelda, and Mario but I absolutely love competition. There is no way a billion dollar franchise, multi level marketing, insanept popular game series is going to let something come along and compete against it. If you haven’t watched The Boys on Amazon you are missing out. One of the most redeeming characters, IMO, says it best in two sentences in the boys in one whole episode and it is the premise of everything. "You don’t get it do you? You don’t mess with the money.

    3. I love seeing games come along and bring something new to the table because it should drive Nintendo to do better for GameFreak to do better. I liked PalWorld and welcomed it as someone who loves Pokemon. While PalWorld didn’t maintain my interest its because Pokemon just does something for me PalWorld doesn’t. However, that being said I have found my self turned away from Pokemon since Gen 7 and 8 semi redeemed 7 and 9 is just sad (performance wise). I have found my self playing the hell out of tjr classic Pokémon games. Point being I welcomed PalWorld in hopes that it would light a fire under Nintendo’s ass to develop a really good next gen Pokemon game. It was wishful thinking though. Nintendo is a “don’t mess with the money” company and that is all it is. Fuck Nintendo. PalWorld was good for the game industry. What Nintendo is going to try to set precedence on is that you can own an idea a simple concept.

I have been telling my friends for literal fucking years and for some reason they just swing the bat for Nintendo. Nintendo makes some great games but holy fuck they are a shit company. They just are. I told them over and over this was coming Nintendo would find something and now here we are.

I sent this too them and they all got silent. They genuinely believed Nintendo couldn’t and wouldn’t.

  • I love chicken, pork, and beef. I have tried the meat alternatives and I like most of what I have tried. I would be vegetarian if it honestly wasn’t so expensive sometimes. Not to say meat isn’t also expensive.

I work with a guy who is a vegan and honestly. I don’t get the hate towards the life style. Guy is as healthy as they get and morally more sound in the area of food than I am.

What am I missing on Vegan hate or even vegetarian hate. No one imposes on me. Honestly, I feel like they have something figured out I dont.

  • I don’t really know a lot about philosophy but I will pass on Marxism. I’m practicing maybe great but the overall fear of innovation is a turnoff for me. Being afraid of Technology and the owners of it stifles the creation of things like Lemmy. Innovation is good, technology can be good. People are just bad.

And I always 100% see anarchism thrown around like it would work and is powerful but hasn’t history proven it’s kind of a wet dream for those with no power. You take power away and then someone tries to step in and re-establish that power in their name.

Correct me if you know something I don’t or have some sort of philosophy degree and aren’t just someone who went online and said, “yeah I like that this article also supports my point of view.”

Nothing against you and again I am asking for anyone to explain to me otherwise if you genuinely have knowledge in that field and have read a book or two or have a degree. I want someone who can explain on a knowledgeable level and isn’t just in some echo chamber that Lemmy can be.

Also, I feel the need to clarify. Fuck communism, fuck fascism, and fuck authoritarianism. I also understand one hundred percent socialism doesn’t work either.

  • Yeah, the only issue is that RCS is actually better and the counter argument is that Apple is breaking the messaging platform by not implementing it in some way.

The other point to make here is that iMessage wouldn’t have to just disappear. They could continue to support iMessage while just allowing text messages to be better for those who just don’t want an iPhone. The whole thing is hypocritical on both sides. Apple has convinced it’s users, very successfully might I add, that it is an Android problem and instead of having choice over your phone, you should just buy an iPhone.

As someone who works in IT this is really not the answer users should get. To me, this is equivalent to, “your computer quit working? Just buy a new one.” But imagine you only had one choice and it’s because that company refuses to just improve standard text messaging for all users across the board but iPhone users don’t understand that Google has a method to fix this problem Apple just refuses to make it a better experience for everyone.

Additionally, I think RCS is an open platform. Google’s fork of it carries encryption and group messaging integration. Point being Google genuinely has a viable iMessage solution to non iMessage texts. Apple wouldn’t even have to stop using iMesaage.

  • The average Lemmy user knows fuck all about, security, privacy, operating systems, act like they are unique, and are inclusive despite wanting more people to understand more about the way they see things.

Libertarianism and anarchism aren’t cool and don’t work.

You are a part of the problem if you hate Nintendo but think you are helping the developer by pirating their games.

You are an even bigger problem to bringing more people to your way of thinking if you are constantly negative about those people buying something they like just because you wouldn’t.

Thinking you are alternative because everything you think is mainstream makes you mainstream.

Your choice of FOSS and OS doesn’t make that product good by design. Just because you can’t operate and OS doesn’t make that OS bad.

  • Often times people on the internet think they are more techy or correct than they are. The other issue is this makes other users feel like the are actually less techy but the truth is an internet search can teach you a lot about how the Internet works.

My issue with the Lemmy community is that they think FOSS some how makes things more private and secure when that is indeed not at all how privacy or security works and there is enough evidence to suggest you are not secure no matter if it’s FOSS or not FOSS.

There is also a mentality that paying for something makes it harmful or bad.

My argument for this is, “you will bother to pirate a game like Zelda for free because you love Zelda so much but then complain about Nintendo being bad because it walls things off. Zelda however would not exist without Nintendo and paying for Zelda would pay the devs to continue making Zelda even if it also means giving Nintendo money. So your logic is play a game you love but don’t contribute to that game because you hate Nintendo?”

The same can be said about the sync drama. You want FOSS but can openly admit Sync looks nice and operates nice but you won’t pay a price for something that seems better. Well the good thing is you don’t have to. Sync isn’t a problem because people want to pay money for an app that works. You are the problem however if you want to dictate how people use browse the web with an app of their choice.

FOSS is great. Lemmy wouldn’t be here without FOSS but Lemmy’s users decreased because Reddit’s downfall and the community of users that came have talked about how poor some of the FOSS Lemmy apps are. However, they love Sync and sync also brought more people to Lemmy. People who are willing to pay. People who are making your platform more well known. An app like Sync is also offering a smooth experience and introduction to Lemmy and people will pay for things that work nicely.
