  • I will say that I don’t think every member of the old team should be forced to resign. Effective moderation takes active engagement, and as someone who did end up as sole mod of a decently active comm for a bit, I was always anxious about it all being on me. I’m thankful that I was finally able to get help after resolving technical difficulties, as now I have room to breathe. A community this big needs as many consistent mods available as possible, because if they aren’t able to handle it, the responsibility falls on Ada. I do not want that for the community or for her.

I think the current mods should instead be forced to accept the way this instance is moderated, end of discussion, or quit. No more floating the idea of migration for the reasons they had. After totally bungling this, they have no chance to ever move peacefully or amicably like they wish they could. They accept this home, or find a new one for themselves. End of discussion.

At the very least, they need several new blahaj.zone moderators, to both handle the reports Ada mentioned, and to build back trust. I hope potential mods of the new comm can join, and I hope members of the old team chose to stay for good. I don’t enjoy bad blood, and I would like this place to actually have a enough moderation.

  • I agree with most others that this is a huge mistake, if only for moving to .world. Another larger community being on that instance sounds like a bad idea for the lemmy ecosystem, even if you wanted to move from blahaj.zone. I will continue to post and browse on 196, but if I start to feel unwelcome there, I will make it known.

The problem is that you’re creating more work for yourself, even if you’re as on top of moderation as you were here. If you get the additional reach that you’re hoping for, you’ll have to work much quicker at removing shit content than you did here. Now that 196 isn’t on the openly queer instance, more bigots will feel like they can interact. This could lead to the community becoming less accepting in the long run, as queer people feel less safe and welcomed.

I have thick skin and often run towards conflicts other people won’t, but I know that many users here aren’t like me. If I start to feel it weighing on me, be confident that things have gone too far for most people on this instance.

  • Astolfo is a femboy icon, and while there’s nothing wrong with being a femboy, the community does skew younger. At a certain age, it gets awkward to call yourself a boy or girl, as our bodies naturally mature. It has a lot to do with the loss of youth, and the shame that comes with it.

Teachers are expected to be more “grown-up or mature,” with them using cute characters coming across as out of touch. It gets awkward when teachers break that perception, like they’re trying to be someone they can’t.

If the teacher doesn’t know who Astolfo is, they seem even more out of touch than if it’s a cute girl character; a “how do you do fellow kids?” moment. If the teacher is aware and intentionally represents themselves as a femboy, it still breaks the view students have of teachers as mature. It would be abnormal instead of immoral, but that alone is risky if a conservative catches wind of it.

  • We never hated masculinity or strength in men; in fact, it’s what many women are attracted to. We just want that strength to be used to fight FOR us, not to oppress and exploit us. The men who bully others when they think we can’t fight back are pathetic cowards, because every fucking time they see any resistance, they run for the hills.

Luigi attacked a member of the oligarchy; a mass murderer with the blessing of the state. He did not do the easy thing, but the hardest. The fucker that wrote this sees “woke feminists” as inherently pacifists, knowing only a history that whitewashed suffragette terrorists and Black Panthers. They think we just hate men, when even some Sapphic women find men like Luigi hot for killing nobility.

We are not frustrated with most men because it’s “politically acceptable,” but because so many of them are pathetic cowards. Grow some balls and fight the powerful instead of the weak!

Edit: duplicate word and autocorrect fix

  • AI plagiarism wouldn’t be a problem if it weren’t for intellectual copyright and capitalism. Ironically, the status quo of AI art being public domain is absolutely based, as the fruits of our stolen labor belong to us. The communists and anarchists should totally make nonprofit AI art that nobody is allowed to own. Reclaiming AI would be awesome!

Unfortunately, tech bros want to enslave all artists along with the rest of the workers, so they’ll rewrite copyright law to turn AI into their exclusive property. It’ll be an exception with no justification besides “greed=good”

  • I’m sad that one user has caused so much trouble for so many people on here. I don’t get the current situation at all, as it’s small potatoes compared to the myriad of transphobes and tankies from other instances. I don’t often block users, but I don’t see how this issue isn’t just tied to a single one who would be better off blocked.

I don’t get how wider political discussions get roped into personal problems. If a person was a really nice “dragonfucker,” I don’t know if we’d be having this conversation. It’s fine to dislike a person without seeing them as immoral or a political enemy.

I’ll be sad to see you go, especially over this 😞
