The only two that I ever still make use of are XDA for custom firmwares and other Android related shit. And Pokecommunity for the ROM hacking / decompilation stuff.
I am not a number.

Especially for gaming. My old Nokia N81 kicked this rectangular piece of glass’s ass when it comes to gaming because I could actually comfortably play games that weren’t turn based and didn’t need to slap an overlay onto the screen.
Cringe is teenagers and 20 somethings hero worshipping Joe Rogan and supporting right wing christian nationalists. Lamest fucking generation around. Even boomers had a hippie phase before becoming old and bitter. Gen Z just skipped that and went straight to the conformist bootlicker phase.
No sympathy here. If you ever thought in the first place that the right wing christian nationalists were really all about freedom, then you’re a dumb piece of shit and the only way that you’ll learn about how fire works is to get burnt by it. I’m not even exaggerating. These people didn’t trick everyone with some master plan, they were calling for the rights of entire groups of people to be stripped away and wanting to force their one religion onto everyone whether they like it or not all along, openly.
If that is your definition of ‘freedom’, then you don’t even know what basic fucking words mean. And it’s no wonder you are so easily fooled by greasy fucking slimeballs that anyone with at least half a brain could see weren’t on the level from a mile away.
I feel really bad for the people who have to share a country with these fucking clowns that are going to suffer too. But as far as these red hat mouth breathers go, I hope they suffer like never before. Hopefully they drop dead like flies too so that they don’t just vote for the same fucking people next time.
Yeah there’s no good reason for a limit. Having no character limit doesn’t stop people from making short posts if they want. If they don’t want long posts taking up half the page, then they should just hide the rest of the text behind a ‘see more’ prompt once it goes over 300 characters.
On a platform like Bluesky I can kinda understand if they limited replies to posts to 300 characters, so that people don’t get walls of text in their inboxes but the original top post should be unlimited IMO.
I used to think a future with cyborgs would be pretty cool but personally, I’m not so hot on the idea anymore. The problem is that you would be beholden to whichever corporation or government manufactures and pays for parts. And who is to say that the support for whichever product that you’ve surgically implanted will be for life, and that you won’t end up with useless landfill electronics sewed up inside of you.
Personally I think that if AI was ever made with altruistic purposes, that could fill the role of things like complex calculations and extra memory or a log. And good Augmented Reality could fill the role of interacting directly with entertainment and blocking out the outside world. And maybe one day there would be effective ways of interacting directly with computers through electrodes or even wirelessly. Although who knows how our privacy would be invaded then. There could be literal thought police in that case.
The problem is that the tech will always come from someone else. Imagine integrating this kind of tech into your life on such a deep level and then the person in charge of over seeing and maintaining this tech turns out to be an authoritarian nazi.
I’ll definitely check it out again then. As a dual booter (for now until I can’t update Windows 10 anymore), cross platform is ideal but otherwise as close as possible is the next best thing.
Last time I checked out Notepadqq, it was nothing like Notepad++, if what you want from Notepad++ are the features. Maybe it’s improved though. Personally I’ve found that with the right combination of settings and add-ons, the closest editors on Linux to Notepad++ are Geany (GTK) or Kate (KDE).
Yeah that’s fair enough and I’m definitely generalizing. It’s just the general sum of my personal observations over the years. And it could easily be just seeing the wrong conversations in the wrong places or whatever. To be fair, you seem to hear about US issues a lot more than European issues on the net in general anyway.
I don’t want to start a war or anything but as someone from neither the USA or Europe, Europeans online often come across as even more exceptionalist than Americans, despite the reputation to the contrary. Because, at least in leftish or liberal spaces, no one is more ready to shit on and call out the USA than Americans. And I don’t mean they’re anti-American or whatever, they just want their country to be better, so they call out all the shit.
Europeans on the other hand often seem more proud and / or defensive about their countries. Maybe they speak openly in their own country specific communities but I don’t get the sense that they’re as open and friendly to outside input or criticism as the Americans are.
The way I see it, we’re all hooked onto the same stream of memes and billionaire owned news sources everywhere across the world. So thinking we’re immune to being overtaken by dangerous alt right nonsense and ignoring all the obvious signs would be a very stupid move, wherever you are. If they’re not taking this seriously, they’re doing exactly what the Americans did and have done since 2016.
Not just anime. As a DC comics fan over the last few years, a lot of how WB does business looks pretty fucking stupid to me too. I’m willing to bet that if I visit the DC Universe website right now, it’s still going to say something like “not available in your country but keep checking back because we’re working on it!” just like it did 5+ years ago.
And they’ve been handling (HBO) Max with same sort of ‘urgency’. So we’ll get the movies on the big screen but as far as the tie in series go, maybe they’ll make it to Netflix some time after you’ve already been spoilered everywhere you look online, in the DC fan spaces you visit.
One of the funniest things was when James Gunn shared a clip of some school kids in Philippines (I think) doing the choreographed intro sequence dance for Peacemaker along with the theme song. Before Peacemaker was even legally available there.
can’t function in society where random individuals can freely reject their statements, so they need the internet to hide away from life.
Show me where in real life are random individuals able to interrupt your conversations with friends and like-minded people without being told to fuck off or punched in the face? People like you keep peddling this idea that we’re all supposed to ‘meet in the middle’ at all times with bigots that think we don’t deserve human rights, or else we’re the bad ones. Fuck off, what does the ‘middle’ of respecting rights or not respecting rights even look like. And real life doesn’t fucking work like that anyway.
I would not hang out with inbred supremacist ‘alpha’ fucking idiots even if you paid me. And I would not welcome them into my home or my social circles. You’re free to speak but that doesn’t mean that I have to fucking listen.
RoboCop, the Alien movies, Hellraiser. Honestly a lot of the old Jean Claude van Damme movies are fairly hardcore for kids, looking back. Probably a lot of movies because I was allowed to stay up until whenever on weekends from pretty young.
Ah yeah, I guess I should’ve mentioned that the dialogue is probably edited. They were generally pretty mature cartoons and certain League members were for sure fucking, but it wouldn’t have ever been as blatant as this. This dialogue almost belongs in Harley Quinn.
This is most likely from the DCAU, either Justice League or Justice League Unlimited. Bruce and Diana had a very short lived little courting thing going on or whatever you would call it. And Diana was a bit more forward with it while Bruce was his usual gruff self. They didn’t actually get together though.
Edit: so animation
Edit 2: “courting”. I took my monocle off and realised the word I was looking for was “flirting”.
Just went there. Top post is politics, next post is about a touchy feely doctor, there’s a few about body image, more politics, a reminder to not use period tracker apps because the USA government is literally taking women’s rights over their own bodies away, dating advice, more politics.
Looks to me like a women-oriented subreddit for discussing women’s issues, just like it always has. Could you point out some of these ‘femcels’ there to me? Should they be praising the Trump administration, swooning over pervert doctors and sharing Andrew Tate screenshots instead?
Maybe a lot are a bit angry there but I think they’ve got every fucking right to be angry right now. Don’t you?
If you think twoxchromosomes is bad because women there had the nerve to talk about their bad experiences, then actual feminist subs must’ve terrified you.
Based on what I’ve learnt, what’s holding Lemmy back is that a large amount of users are fucking man babies that brigade any women-oriented communities and drive women in general away from this place, while admins just sit back and allow them to. The Lemmy mouse needs a fedora.
Honestly I’m gonna go against what people usually say and say that Arch is better to start with than Ubuntu, as long as you’re not afraid of command line or editing txt files. Whether it’s Arch or Ubuntu, as a noob you’re going to be doing a lot of wiki reading and copying and pasting of commands.
Personally though, a big difference between the two I found is that after a couple of years of copying and pasting commands in Ubuntu, I still didn’t really understand anything about how Linux works behind the scenes. Whereas Arch had me feeling like I too could be a sysadmin, if I felt like it, within a week.
And maybe things are different these days with Ubuntu, it’s been a few years, but I find that Arch has a way more enthusiastic and helpful user base. And the Arch wiki is practically a bible. Whereas searching for problems and solutions in Ubuntu can feel a bit like searching for problems and solutions in Windows, where you’ll probably get copy pasted generic solutions or someone telling you to restart your PC.
Wake me up when something gets done about it other than a fine that amounts to about half a day’s profit for them.
