Fuck you and I’ll see you tomorrow!
Maybe Goldman Sachs. Manipulation of many markets, both contributed to and profited from the 2008 crash. Which they paid a $550mil settlement for when they’re like a $100bil company. Imagine making $50k a year, committing fraud (“misleading its investors”) at a national scale affecting millions, and getting fined $250.
Also manipulation of gas prices, food supply/prices, insider trading, they’re just the freaking worst.
kyle@lemm.eeto Technology@lemmy.world•Did ChatGPT come up with Trump’s tariff rate formula? AI chatbots ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude and Grok all return the same formula for reciprocal tariff calculations, several X users claim.English0·2 months agoThe numbers come from an overly simple way to level out trade deficits.
So if I sell you $100 in goods and you sell me $120 dollars in goods, I’m “losing” money, therefore 20% tariff (tax to sell me something). In reality, you’re going to increase your prices and sell me $140 worth of the same stuff.
All the AIs did was expand this to a global scale, what’s insane to me is that the math adds up. It doesn’t take an AI to do this though, some economics undergrad could come up with the same thing. Understanding the underlying methodology shows how it completely lacks nuance or understanding of how the world really works.

It happened to a friend of mine this week, in person. I do feel like it was to antagonize, but it was a real thing a stranger said to another stranger.
Unfortunately yes. This past Wednesday a friend was at a coffee shop and a dude in his 40s walked up to her out of the blue and told her “your body, my choice” and she’s like “I have a gun in my purse” (that might have actually been true, I didn’t think to ask).
What kind of world do we live in
kyle@lemm.eeto Technology@lemmy.world•We're never going to have better internet in the USA, are we?English0·7 months agoProbably like $120/month. You can certainly get lower, if you want like 15Mbps.
The infrastructure cost is prohibitively expensive though. Current ISPs have rigged it so the barrier for entry is massive. And making something actually widespread will force you to get permits from local government, which the ISPs lobby.

If the people carrying the stretcher hardly move between the first and last panels, then yeah they probably aren’t visible. But then it’s weird how they are rearranged anyway.
Ah yes, I can see that. The gap between the first two people and the third threw me off, I thought the third person was in a different letter.
Edit: upon further inspection, the third person in the first panel is lying on their back, but in the last panel they are on their side, so I’m backtracking my backtrack.
Idk why it bothers me, but the two dead people in the first panel don’t actually make a letter, and don’t appear in the final panel.
I don’t really care if she shaves but I shave my chest and armpits. I don’t really like how I look with body hair.
