  • Building AI tools will also require very few of the skills of a manager from our generation. It’s better to be a prompt engineer, building evals and agentic AI than it is to actually manage. Management will be replaced by AI, it’s turtles all the way down. They’re going to expect you to be both a project manager and an engineer at the same time going forward, especially at less enterprising organizations with lower compliance and security bars to jump over. If you think of an organization as a tree structure, imagine if the tree was pruned, with fewer branches to the top, that’s what I imagine there end goal is.

  • In good conscience I can’t recommend visiting the site or lowering yourself to read their blubbering nonsense, but if you do happen to find yourself reviewing the perspectives over on that other site in r/Conservative, you’ll find them infighting, and doing mental gymnastics to make sense of it all. Praising him, while simultaneously being upset he wants a third term, or ashamed of his imperialist plans. The blind leading the blind, but apparently at least some of them are bothered by some of the unconstitutional actions.

  • Yea it can be read, but it’s generally considered open source when it is both readable and modifiable, and this is not. In a commercial setting this would need a license approved by OSI as well.

Code that can be read but not used for much isn’t in the spirit of open source. It reminds me of a rich kid who gets yet another new toy and wants everyone to see what they have for attention but won’t let them touch it. We should call this something else entirely, perhaps readable source.

  • To be fair to all those people that misunderstand it, they are marketing it as Artificial Intelligence, which it isn’t. So one could argue it is in fact a lie, as most marketing seems to be these days. It’s difficult for us humans to see the difference between intelligence and an “alright prediction of what might come next”. Such as when we struggle to tell the difference between the truth and a lie someone told us. It can be deceiving.

Since marketers have bastardized the term, and we’ve begun using AGI in place of the old meaning, confusion is only going to get worse until existing LLMs become somewhat boring, and marketing latches onto some other trend.

With that said, I find the utility of this thing we now call AI to be pretty useful for my own needs, but that’s not stopping people from trying to fit this square shaped solution into circle shaped holes.
