I once read a quote by someone that went roughly like “Voting with your wallet means the ones with the biggest wallets get the most votes” and it has stuck with me ever since.

Probably a lot better. The difficult, and expensive, part is getting everyone to migrate over to this new standard, not because it’d be unfeasible but because companies don’t want to spend any time or money on things that they don’t think will make them profit.
What we’d need is, for example, the EU realizing that Google’s attempted monopoly on the internet is dangerous and requiring a certain standard for private consumer-facing websites to get the ball rolling.

Both houses of which are under Republican control. So you’re only going to argue details instead of actually responding to the content?
First: The commander-in-chief doesn’t control the military?
Second: Even if he didn’t, how would that matter for Ukraine? Removing both their support and the sanctions on Russia would still hurt them a lot.
The damage to the environment will never be undone. The US will double-down on emissions and most other countries in the world will stop trying because they won’t think there’s any point anymore.
The country with the biggest military of the world, who they have received a lot of support from, just elected a president that supports the dictatorship committing crimes against humanity in their country. Do you not see how that is problematic?
Yeah, great fun watching the planet we all share start boiling and ruining the future not just for our own species but for millions of others.

Have you seen the Thunder Sting reboot of Lord of the Ring? I’ve heard that Frodo hangs dong.

Pelicanen@sopuli.xyzto Technology@lemmy.world•[discussion] DC (direct current) power networkEnglish0·8 months agoWhat do you mean AC “lets you go”? AC causes muscle contractions which keep you from, for example, letting go of a live wire.
In my experience, cold woman is cold for about 8 seconds after she’s fallen asleep, then she turns into a living furnace and man turns into living sweat.

Do note that if China gains a market advantage, the price will likely go up to reflect the real cost of production.
Pelicanen@sopuli.xyzto World News@lemmy.ml•Chinese Brands Will Sell A Third Of The World's Cars By 2030: Study0·10 months agoI think the tariffs are because the Chinese government seems to be pumping money into the electric car industry so they can keep prices artificially low and corner the market, then use their market position to extort other countries into giving in to their totalitarian politics. The more dependence we have on China, the more power the CCP wields internationally.
Once you start remembering where the buttons are you get to the advantageous part which is using the controls without ever having to take your eyes off the road.
