I’ve already settled on making lemmy my new home a long while ago. I like it here and there is more than enough engagement.
What i can’t really find an alternative for is discord… it’s going through the “enshittification fascism techbro” phase.
I tried matrix but honestly it sucks, Its so incredibly buggy it’s barely even usable. I’m still willing to give it a try since it seems very promising but the instability is a big downside.

Also, use F-Droid as much as possible. It’s not perfect but still miles better than the play store

I wish phones were more like regular computers where you just buy a phone and then decide which OS you install. Or at least be able to change the OS.

I’ve been wanting a phone with alternate OS for ages now but it simply isn’t there. Guess ill just have to stick to grapheneos for now.
If blackberry manages to come back without using android I might consider them. It its just going to be another shitty android phone with a blackberry skin on it then I’ll pass. Probably a fat chance anyway since no one will buy a phone that doesn’t have android or iOS.
I’m using the voyager app and the experience is almost 1:1 with reddit if that maybe helps you.
People are so ignorant of it too. Last time I mentioned lemmy as an alternative somewhere on discord I got nearly banned.
It always amazes me people keep on using centralised platforms like reddit.
Sure lemmy isn’t perfect but at least if one instance goes crazy you can always switch.

Last time I mentioned lemmy I was almost banned.
The problem with Matrix to me is that it is simply too unstable. I can open it up on any device and half the messages won’t load or are corrupted. Media won’t show at all. In contrast Lemmy has been super reliable and “just works”, so going from reddit to lemmy was no problem at all. And the communities are great too.
I just want working voice chat and group chats.
The entire streaming i don’t really care about. There are other apps for that.
But yeah as it is I’m probably better off using discord until the enshittification is so bad no one wants to use it anymore.
