Using Calibre, they’re much of a muchness. I’ve got a kobo, I mostly eRead on my phone.
It was the same with asbestos, there were correct handling procedures but they were skipped enough for people to still get sick from it. Better we don’t use it if we don’t need to.
We (srtaya) tried to introduce cutting standards as the silicosis is avoidable, but the cutting technique is more expensive so it got skipped for the cheaper dangerous methods.
Turns out ethical wages and materials cost money. I agree that older tech being more ethical as whatever ‘cost’ is may have was paid by the first owner.
There’s other phones with user replaceable batteries. I looked it up a month or so ago. They’re not as ethical as fairphone, but still better than my drawer of working phones with dead batteries.
I find the whole screen shot of a catchy sentence from twatter as a post with a clickbait headline pretty frustrating too. The title of the post could easily be the content as plain text. How much are a few billion meme reposts of screenshots of text costing the planet? How much data is wasted sending pictures of plain text around the world?
CSAM is a risk on any platform. I guarantee there’s private subreddits with it.
Having upcoming videos in my subscription feed can get stuffed too. Just list it when it’s online.
