ziggurat@lemmy.worldto Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•What would this list look like for your generation?0·7 days agoLiterally a 40 year old reference, seniors still in working age was in their 20s when this game was released
Mandrake was my second distro, I think, I think I had knoppix before that. Used neither for long, switched to Ubuntu in the first or second major release. I was on Ubuntu until gnome 3 was released, then I threw up a little in my mouth and dustro hopped s bit until I landed on arch, which I also had for almost 10 years,
Now I am on NixOS,
No I am not sadomasochistic for using arch or nixos. There are benefits and trade offs, and I would not have used them for so long if it didn’t make sense for me.
I’m against distro shaming, and DE shaming. Everyone can like what they like for different reasons. That makes Linux better!
BTW, fun fact, both Arch and NixOS is older than Ubuntu, just fun to think about
ziggurat@lemmy.worldto linuxmemes@lemmy.world•Unneeded new distro(s) and their immaturity.0·25 days agoJust a reminder that nix packages works on most any distro, and then they work like other universal packages, but without the sandboxing
NixOS is just when you take this to the logical conclusion and have every part of the distro packaged in Nix, including configuring your OS, and optionally your users configuration files as well.

The root partition is a tmpfs ram disk, and everything not saved in a separate partition, and either mounted or symlinked on to my root partition is lost at shutdown and regenerated at boot. Its less than a second extra to boot, and it uses about 16MB extra memory. Everything is made very convenient through the impermanence nix module and the sops nix module

ziggurat@lemmy.worldto Technology@lemmy.world•In the latest Windows 11 preview build, Microsoft removed the “bypassnro” command, which let users skip signing into a Microsoft Account when installing Windows.English0·1 month agoThe answer is a bit complicated. Linux has a long history with HDR where you would need exact software and hardware, or else no HDR… Just know that it will get easier because the ball has already started to roll in the correct direction.
But the shortest way I can say it now,
If you use Valve’s game mode, (which is possible to get either using steamos, bazzite, chimera OS, nobara, or you can manually set it up. You should be able to get it to work. This should work for windows games that support HDR. AFAIK there are no Linux games yet supporting HDR. It should be possible to get videos playing with HDR also, but that would be an exercise for the reader, or wait until people make it easier.
Please correct me if I am wrong, but I currently believe the newest version, of KDE and Gnome are now HDR ready. If I am wrong you might just need the newest beta which will become stable Q2 this year.
Playing videos, I believe the newest version of MPV just got HDR support. With more apps incoming.
Anything that let’s a gamepad or a remote browse your videos? AFAIK not yet, but be patient, as this is all new
Where? I just want to learn more. What is this symbol called there
Relatively speaking, Hitler was one of the worst people to ever live! And the richest man alive today idolizes him.
Imagine if Mansa Musa and Hitler teamed up! The world needs to not experience that!
I guess you could say the same about Hitler, since he didn’t personally kill any jews. If killing jews isn’t a requirement then there is definetly evidence that musk is a neo-nazi

The only reason to consider installing it is that this is cryptographically signed by another developer, so if Google tries to install safety core again, it will fail because googled signature is different. It also has a super high version number, so that Google hopefully will not think to try to install the software.
Is it really a bug or is it just boiling the frog slowly?
Is it really a fluke or just boiling the frog slowly?
I use gray Jay instead, it has become really good the last wave of updates. Wife is on revanced, I’ll change her over if gray jay adds shorts.
There is still a few paper cut issues with it, but over all I prefer gray jay over the official YouTube app.
I’m just waiting sometimes searching for an in depth guide, or an easy to use tool, to upscale my sg-1 dvd’s directly from original non compressed quality, to a more palatable resolution before they are compressed and converted to mkv. Tools being FOSS is a soft requirement, it kind of has to run on Linux, or I need to find an older dual core Intel Mac in storage or run windows in a vm.
I don’t have any computers with a DVD drive any more, but I’m not opposed to buying one

Remove the sim card if it’s an older device, use a Faraday cage (your microwave is one) or a jammer. If you are the government you can also tell the telecom to block the phone from connecting
You can do it! Did you beat hades once?
Look up OP builds, use the Hera bow, and start with aprodite’s keepsake, and use aprodite’s cast with hera bow. This is the only required part for this build. Other than that Athena dash is always the best dash always always, until you find the game becomes easy. Poseidon attack with this build is suggested, but optional.
In the mirror, focus on getting more death defiance, dashes and life regen. After that more health and the one that gives bonus damage if you have two curses on the enemy (you get one from aprodite’s cast, and one from poseidon attack + razor shoals boon)
Use the same build over and over again and you will beat hades in a few tries.
Learn the moves, when foes telegraph their attack, dash more. The hardest boss is the second to last boss. Won’t explain why, for sake of spoilers of you or someone else hasn’t gotten that far.
You should use gold to buy max health, or healing more often. I bet you focus on buying boons first, you don’t need that with the build above
When you first manage to beat hades, beat him like 9 times total i think to get the end credits. The prolog after the end credits has more story than before the end credits. Mainly give max amount of nectar to everyone to qualify for the big ending in the prolog
My favorite story now that Hades 2 the video game is in early access, is that Melenöe, Hades daughter, was conceived by Zeus disguised as Hades hitting up Persephone.
They do skip details like this in the Hades games, also skip incest and inbreeding. They dont skip same gender relationships though, so at least there is some details that are retained
Like juipeltje said, NixOS is older than Ubuntu, and I think about a month younger than Arch Linux
